Executive Board Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order by Vice President Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman at 9: 00. Members present, Richard Boland, Shirley Waggoner-Eisenman, Charlie Spencer and Cathie Rod.

Minutes of previous meeting read and approved.

Charlie Spencer: Plant sale netted approximately $12,000. For future plant sales, special orders are to be set aside. Existing MG tents will be checked to see if new purchases are needed.
o Lack of help in all areas - hot line, gardens, greenhouse. Mentoring program suggested to encourage new members' participation. Question on Botanical garden space given by county and must be maintained by MG. This will be clarified. Volunteer hours needed remain 20 on hot line/seminars and 20 in gardens etc.
o Most clinics over until September. More at Wal Mart and Hickman Crossing Library.
o Monthly reports on volunteer activity needed for Wanda Sykes, Assistant Director of SE District Extension Services. Information comes back to County Commissioners.
o Youth Garden Grant Program - too broad and extensive with concerns of volunteers needed. More discussion at future meeting when more information is obtained.

General Discussion
- Recognition Banquet, June 20. Program committee and Gina will get out invitations and flyer by June 1 with RSVP date. Meats provided with other items supplied by participants.
- June guest speaker, Dr. Jeannie Davis will be requested (by David Barkley) to give morning talk on specialized crops and an afternoon talk on herbs which would be opened to the public with a fee.
- Reunion social: Need Gina's help in creating appropriate list of invitees. Planned for mid October as an afternoon social to be held in Botanical Garden. Volunteers still needed for specific classes to research class members.
- Speakers for 06: July - David Nash, August - Dr. Kenneth Sorensen, September- Ron Gilbert, October - Rick Morris and November Ozzy Coor.
- MG Fact Sheet: draft prepared by Shirley to be discussed at next Board meeting. Possibly make into brochure for general public.
- Policies and Procedures: draft prepared by Shirley. Discussion at next Board meeting followed by discussion at General meeting.
- Attendance at Board Meeting. Should meetings be held every month, summer months? Discussion at next Board meeting.
